Shirley Kirsten and Elaine Comparone met when Shirley encountered a "Comparone Plays Scarlatti" video on Youtube. Her comments on that video and Elaine's response led to a lively correspondence, and ultimately, a friendship between the two keyboard artists who met in person this past autumn (2011). Shirley, a "red diaper baby" born in NYC, lives in Fresno, California where she plays, records, teaches, composes, blogs and inspires. When Elaine sent Shirley the latest CD release from Lyrichord (The Queen's Chamber Band Plays Mozart), Shirley responded with this current installment of the Kirsten blog.
