Elaine Comparone brings her stand-up harpsichord to Bright Hill Literary Center for a solo performance with commentary.
Elaine Comparone plays solo harpsichord music by the greatest keyboard composers of the 17th and 18th century. From Hugh Aston's Hornepype of 1425 to a suite of Cuban dance miniatures by Downsville resident José Bernardo, Elaine plays and talks about her favorite composers.
These luminaries include Italy's great Girolamo Frescobaldi (Cento partite sopra passacagli and his variations on the aria La Monica); François Couperin (Les Baricades Mistèrieuses and Les Tic-Toc Choc); Jean-Philippe Rameau (Les Tourbillons and Les Cyclopes); Domenico Scarlatti (3 sonatas); Scott Joplin (The Entertainer) and Johann Sebastian Bach's Concerto in the Italian Style.
